Which Way Will You Turn?

"Some people succeed because they are destined to, but most people succeed because they are determined to."  - Rosco Dunjee, Entrepreneur and Activist

Who among us has not been tempted to exclaim, "I wish I could chuck the whole thing and get away from it all?"  Who has never become "fed up" and known an urge to escape?  Who has never cried, "I've had about as much as I can take!"  Yet would fleeing be the answer?  Would not frustrations still hound us?  Would we not take our problems with us?

When tempted to run away, you must call on your resolution, not your doubts and fears.  You sharpen your abilities when you encounter something difficult and battle against it determination and courage.  You never get your second wind except in the long race.  You never learn to swim in shallow pools.  You never learn to play tennis with the net down.  You never gain sturdiness if you quit before reaching the top of the first steep hill.

It is persistence that most often separates the achievers from the also-rans.  After your arms and back are tired from swinging the ax, it takes that solid lick to split the log.  If you quit before the final blow, all your efforts are wasted.  Nothing takes the place of persistence.  Ultimately the man with determined "push" replaces the man with deferential "pull."  Success smiles on those who persist, who refuse to be stopped by rebuff but keep on trying.  When you are tempted to run away, call on your inner resources and persist.

Success comes to those who hang on long after others have given up.  I will persist in spite of the difficulties.

When Did Black Love Go Out Of Style? Two-thousand-eight has been one of the most eventful and exciting years of our life time. For the most part, this is due to the fact that for the first time in our country's history, a Black man has won the Democratic Party nomination to run for president of our great country.
Since we are on the dawn of a new year, you probably have taken some time to reflect over the past year.
